Claude Bonnefond is somewhat difficult to research (most of his work is steered by bad listings to Jean-Claude Bonnefond, the French painter who preceded him) , but if you\'re interested I highly suggest searching \"Claude Bonnefond sculpteur\" and reading of his life and works on French wiki sites and sale houses. He lived March 28, 1868 - February 1, 1938 and spent the latter half of his life living and working in Argentan which is when and where this sculpture was produced. Much of his late metalwork was manufactured for Imperial Zinn, and he sculpted ceramics for legendary Keller & Géurin.

The statue is a bronze clad slush cast spelter figure. Dating to the early 20th century, the steel wire for stirring and agitating the slush is still imbedded, as is often the case with these.
A partially obscured (under cold painted verdigris) \"Bonnefond\" is incised on the whorls of the dress.
Statue measures approximately 16 inches tall with a base measuring 5.5 x 5.75 inches.
There are scuff marks around her head, shoulders and arms, as well as some signs of oxidation on areas which were not as deeply color treated. There is some scratching evident on the figures left arm. Original tint application around the dress ruffles and decoration has left red color treatment somewhat \"outside the lines\". There is some wear through the patinization of the hair, showing raw aged bronze beneath the black.
This sculpture has been carefully and meticulously cleaned and treated with thin layer of microcrystalline curators wax to preserve and protect the original cold painted verdigris and patina.
