Constructed in richly toned genuine tortoiseshell with elegant silver cartouche decoration to the lid and original brass period fittings. The piece retains multiple interior marks, including examples to the hinge and shell interior of 'Alll' and 'lllA'.
Beautifully proportioned with soft rounded form typical of refined Georgian personal accessories. The tortoiseshell displays exceptional depth and warm translucency under light. Very soft in appearance and in hand.
