Offered here is a matched lot of two antique English earthenware plates in the "Singanese" pattern, produced by John Wedgwood of Tunstall/Burslem, Staffordshire, circa 1845–1860.

Note: This mark reads "J. Wedgwood" — it is not the famous Josiah Wedgwood & Sons firm, but a distinct Staffordshire potter active in the mid-19th century. Collectors of Staffordshire transferware will recognize the "Singanese" name as a well-documented mid-Victorian exotic/chinoiserie pattern.
