Salvaged for Restoration- Very old and original indoor set of lighted mission arts crafts brass/copper light sconces from the late 1800s, they look to be dated 1898 on the socket covers.
CONDITION- The lights are original as found, with the exception of new wires to get them up and running again after decades of storage.
The lights were sent for new wiring to check for operability of the original sockets and Perkins paddle on/off switches, the original wires were basically deteriorated away. The light sockets and switches work beautifully! All the original patina that was on the lights when found was left just as they were salvaged, PLEASE NOTE- one section of one of the caps had been cleaned and more polished than the rest, this is how it was found and we do not know when someone had cleaned and slightly polished that one section (see photo).
These lights are what I believe to be primarily brass most likely but potentially some components may be
copper as well. These would look fabulous polished back to a beautiful shine and luster or simply left with the approximate 127 Years of natural aging, but to each their own on the restoration of choice.
Please keep in mind these fixtures are well over 120 years old and have cosmetic imperfections throughout such as flaking paint streaks, scrapes, scratches, age fading, and a few small dings scattered throughout. The beauty caps are the same but we noticed the screw fastening rings are slightly different, possibly a replaced cap at some point in its life is usually why you may see slight differences in original sets, after 127 years there was definitely maintenance on them on occasion, they did not throw things away like we do nowadays, they fixed them just as it should be. These are a beautiful very historical example of
some of the earliest electric interior lighting in America during the dawn of the electricity conversions in homes of that time in history.
Each light will hold one standard size bulb. SORRY- bulbs not included.
We used different styles of decorative bulbs to display the wonderful effect bulb choice has on fixtures such as these, NOTE- Edison bulbs are a fabulous match with these fixtures because that’s literally what where used in lighting fixtures of this age and caliber, a must have light set if era correct authenticity is a must with no exceptions.
