Orange and black Tango-style art glass vase attributed to Michael Powolny for Loetz. Features vertical black stripes, a flared trumpet silhouette, and a scalloped black-edged rim. Surface scratches and interior residue are visible in the photos. Attribution and production date have not been independently verified. I reached out to a few people to authenticate but they said with out documentation it would be to hard to verify.
Vase was attained by me in a an local estate sale sale, but no documentation came with around 1914, this signature design pattern is formally known as Ausführung 157. It features a vibrant, opaque orange cased-glass body accented by crisp, vertically trailed black glass threads and a distinctive black-rimmed scalloped edge.
Hand blown:
The close-up images of the base show a critical authenticity marker for art glass collectors: a rough, snapped-off pontil scar (rather than a perfectly ground and polished circle). This confirms that the piece was hand-blown using traditional glassmaking techniques, where the iron pontil rod was broken away from the base after completion.
