Description: This characterful Edo/Meiji-period painting was brushed by Kaizan (海山), a traditional painter working in the rich Japanese classical painting tradition. Titled \"Shichifukujin-zu (七福神)\" (Seven Lucky Gods), the artwork brings together Japan\'s beloved pantheon of fortune and good luck in a lively, cheerful composition. At the top are Bishamonten, the armored protector holding his pagoda, alongside Daikokuten smiling atop bales of rice with his magic mallet. In the center, Fukurokuju with his towering forehead stands beside Ebisu proudly holding a fresh red sea bream (Tai) and fishing rod. Below, the goddess Benzaiten plays her biwa lute, the jovial Hotei reclines against his treasure sack with a fan, and the venerable Jurōjin holds his staff. In Japanese culture and Feng Shui traditions, the Seven Lucky Gods symbolize prosperity, longevity, business success, familial harmony, and protection against misfortune. Rendered with fluid brushwork and earthy mineral pigments on paper, this wide-format hanging scroll serves as an uplifting centerpiece for a living room, private study alcove, or Asian art collection. The left center is signed \"海山 (Kaizan)\" along with two authentic red artist seals.
