The Antique RARE Bridgeport Standard DuPont 1793-1802 Copper Printing Plate is a rare and valuable piece of American printing history. The printing block face is copper. I'm not sure of the metal backing. These 5 print blocks were made in the United States. As a significant artifact in the field of printing and graphic arts, this item holds historical and collectible value for those interested in the early days of American printing technology.PRINT ON PAINT CAN: 1793 Born with the Republic 1802 DU PONT Paint & Varnishes Bridgeport Standard Prepared Paints SO - Outside White unreadable (at least to me:) E. I. Du Pont Denemours & CoHISTORY: E. I. Du Pont was born in France and moved to America in 1792 or 1793. He started the Bridgeport Standard Du Pont Co (in everything I've read) in 1802. Since the plate says 1793-1802, it may have been that he is marking when he came to America. E. I. Du Pont Denemours died in 1834.
