Rare Pair of Antique Russian Brass Candlesticks by Pizhenov – Imperial Period, Circa 1880–1900

A fine and well-preserved matched pair of solid brass candlesticks made by the Russian metalware manufacturer Pizhenov. Each candlestick features a turned stem, a wide drip pan, and a circular base supported by three ball feet with decorative finials.

The clear Cyrillic maker’s stamp “ПИЖЕНОВЪ” (Pizhenov) dates these pieces firmly to the pre-1918 Imperial Russian period, before the spelling reform and the end of the Romanov era. This type of candlestick was commonly used as household lighting, altar lights, or Jewish Sabbath candlesticks in Eastern Europe and Russia at the end of the 19th century.

Matching pairs that have survived in such complete and solid condition are increasingly scarce. The brass has developed a warm, natural patina while remaining structurally excellent – no dents, loose parts or repairs.
