By Saturday morning, the fences were down, the roads were hopelessly clogged, and a dairy farm in upstate New York had become the center of the universe.
Somewhere in that magnificent mess, this ticket was supposed to admit one person for the princely sum of $8.00.
This framed display features an authentic original Saturday, August 16, 1969 Woodstock Music & Art Fair admission ticket, presented beneath a reproduction of the legendary Arnold Skolnick Woodstock poster.
The ticket is the real attraction here.
Printed for the second day of the festival, it bears the original “WOODSTOCK MUSIC and ART FAIR” heading, Saturday August 16 date, $8.00 admission price, Globe Ticket Company marking, and serial number 00561 A. The detachable stub remains attached.
Saturday’s scheduled performers included some fairly obscure acts you may have heard of: The Who, Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Santana, Canned Heat, Mountain, Sly & the Family Stone, and others.
Not a bad evening for eight bucks.
The ticket has been professionally presented beneath glass with a large reproduction Woodstock poster, wide black matting, and a substantial black frame accented with ornate gold detailing. The result is a display piece with genuine presence rather than an original ticket disappearing inside a tiny plastic holder.
