BAT VK-3i Balanced Audio Technology Tube Preamplifier. TheVK-3i is a fully balanced, tubed line-stage preamplifierknown for its high transparency, dynamic drive, and build quality.It\'s the extreme audiophile experience.I tested this pre-amp with regular vintage equipment (Pioneer, Kenwood, etc. and it made the whole system sound like a million bucks. Thoroughly tested and working as designed, performance is outstanding. After the usual tube warm up this unit comes to life. This particular preamplifier was going to be the nucleus of an extreme audio system I planned on setting up one day. Unfortunately, that day has come and gone so up for sale it goes, to someone else to enjoy. A few important facts about this unit: This preamplifier does Not have a phono stage; one would have to use a dedicated phono preamplifier if a turntable is so desired. Connections on the back both input and output are a combination of XLR and RCA jacks. Everything on this preamplifier and remote uses \"star\" security screws. We opened it up to take pictures but will Not pack the insides of this particular unit. The tubes are extremely tight in their sockets and are not going anywhere. Plus, a special tool is needed to remove the cover. This particular BAT model does not come with a remote control. There is an optional remote control that can be had for this unit. Most buyers of this unit did not opt for the remote control when purchased new. Every once and a while they come up for sale on . Cosmetically a few tiny nicks on the face that Superman would have a hard time finding and seeing with his Xray vision. The case/cover has a few small hairline scratches which were touched up with marker. All switches, controls, indicators, etc. work as they should. The lighted number display is bright and complete. The mute switch is a momentary lever which is spring loaded. You move it once it mutes and springs back. Move it again and after springing back mute is off. Volume control turns smoothly, quietly and linearly. As stated, everything works the way it should on this high-end preamplifier. Please view the 12 sale photos. What you see is Exactly what you get. NO UNPLEASANT SURPRISES. Although this preamp works as stated, due to age and a long period of non-use this preamplifier is offered for restoration and sold as is.
