Bermuda Stamps 1944 12/6 Grey & orange yellow (Issue 6/7) MH SG120c CV £130**SG Catalogue 2027This stamp was part of a Reference collection of the 14 issues.
There were a total of 14 print issues between 1937 and 1952 for the 12/6 stamp. Issues 12-14 had perf 13.2 x 13; Issues 8 to 11 had a clear gum and perf 13.9 x 13.8 (SG120d issues). Issues 1 to 7 had a brown gum and perf 13.9 x 13.8. Identification of this stamp has been checked against a reference set of Issues 1 to 14
Note that it is not possible to distinguish between issues 6 and 7 as both were printed off the same presses within a few weeks of each other. The presence of brownish gum indicates that the stamp was issued in the colony and not by the Crown Agents in London. It is therefore a copy of Issue 6. Note that issues 6 and 7 had the smallest print runs of all 14 issues. This issue on ordinary paper, is the only issue containing an uneven brown gum. All subsequent issues on ordinary paper had a clear evenly spread gum.
