Bermuda Stamps 1951 12/6 deep grey & brownish orange (Reference Collection Issue 1) MH SG120 CV £625**SG Catalogue 2027This stamp was part of a Reference collection of the 14 issues. The stamp is marked in the description as mint hinged as reflected light shows possible disturbance in the central upper edge of the stamp but this is not seen on the reverse scan and may be due to colour seepage from the front to the rear of the stamp. This stamp clearly shows the characteristic measles effect which resulted in most of the stamp sheets of this issue being withdrawn from sale and destroyed by the Crown Agents.
There were a total of 14 print issues between 1937 and 1952 for the 12/6 stamp. Issues 12-14 had perf 13.2 x 13; Issues 8 to 11 had a clear gum and perf 13.9 x 13.8 (SG120d issues). Issues 1 to 7 had a brown gum. Identification of this stamp has been checked against a reference set of Issues 1 to 14
