This blade has a high and prominent hamon. Although it has been suriage (shortened), the signature remains. The jigane is bright, and there are no noticeable flaws.

As this piece has passed through many years, there may be slight scuffs or small scratches that may have been overlooked. Please understand.

Era Muromachi period Swordsmith Bishu-osafune Sukemitsu Background

Bishū Osafune Sukemitsu was a swordsmith active in Bizen Province (present-day Okayama Prefecture), mainly from the mid to late Muromachi period (around the 15th century to the early 16th century).

He is regarded as one of the representative masters of the Sue-Bizen tradition, particularly around the Bunmei era (1469–1487) and the Eishō era (1504–1521). He is also well known as the father of the famous swordsmiths Osafune Katsumitsu and Osafune Munemitsu
