Blessed Fulton Sheen Relic Prayer Card

About the Blessed:
Fulton J. Sheen (1895–1979) was an American Catholic archbishop, theologian, author, and one of the most influential Catholic communicators of the 20th century. Ordained a priest in 1919, he became widely known for explaining the Catholic faith with clarity, humor, and intellectual depth. His radio program The Catholic Hour and later television program Life Is Worth Living reached millions of people, earning him national recognition and even an Emmy Award.
Sheen was especially devoted to the Eucharist and encouraged priests and laypeople to make a daily Holy Hour before the Blessed Sacrament. He served as an auxiliary bishop of New York and later as Bishop of Rochester, while also supporting Catholic missionary work around the world. His writings and broadcasts continue to inspire Catholics today. In 2012, Pope Benedict XVI declared him Venerable, recognizing his heroic virtue, and the Church continues to consider his cause for beatification. Fulton Sheen was officially beatified on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at The Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, Relics and Veneration:
Relics are physical objects associated with Our Lord and the saints, such as items from Our Lord’s Passion or bodily remains of a saint (“first class relics”) or items they owned or used (“second class relics”). The Church refers to these items together as “sacred relics”. Third class relics are devotional items touched to sacred relics such as prayer cards, oils, medals or rosaries. Veneration is the practice of showing respect and reverence. The Church teaches that we are part of the communion of saints and that the saints serve as models and intercessors. Through veneration, intercessory prayer, and invocation, we ask the saints to pray for us to God so that our own prayers to God may be more effective, that we may be brought closer to Christ, and successful in our battles against sin. Veneration is not worship. Worship is reserved exclusively for God.
