This is a set of two 100% authentic hand signed portraits from The Eisenhower’s to iconic Life Magazine photographer & friend Edward Clark in 1958.
According to Clark’s LA Times obituary from 2000; \"on Eisenhower\'s last day as President, Clark was the only photographer permitted in the Oval Office.\" Edward Clark was a close personal friend of the Presidential couple and had initially met President Eisenhower when he was Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe & Ed Clark was a war correspondent in the 1940’s. The two photographs used in these portraits were actually taken by Ed Clark and are private photos (never officially distributed.)
President Eisenhower’s portrait measures 20 inches wide x 24 3/4 inches high. Mamie Eisenhower’s portrait measures 17 inches wide x 20 5/8 high.
This two items remained in Clark’s possession until his death in 2000 and were acquired from his niece therafter. They are in the original frames & matting from 1958 and do shows signs of wear consistent with age. These are extraordinary, museum quality pieces of American political history and photo journalism.
