Vintage CM Cyclone Model S hand chain hoist, 1 ton (2,000 lb.) capacity, made by the CM Hoist Division of Columbus McKinnon Corporation, Tonawanda, NY. This is the older Model S housing, predating the more commonly found Model M — a nice find for hoist collectors, restorers, or anyone needing a genuine American-made shop hoist.
Lift chain measures approximately 18 feet. Housing is cast metal with legible "CM Cyclone" branding and the manufacturer's data plate (Keep Load Chain Oiled — No Other Lubrication Necessary), serial number SBF27. The cover also has "POWER DEPT" scratched into it, likely an old plant or utility ownership marking — nice bit of working history.
A comparable new CM Cyclone 1-ton hoist runs well over $1,800 today — this vintage unit offers genuine working functionality at a fraction of that cost, ideal for shop use, restoration, or collecting.
Condition: Tested by hand — the hoist operates smoothly and the brake/clutch holds.
