Originally from Hauserman, awarded by EFG
Cattleya Christopher Hausermann is an orchid hybrid originally registered with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) in 1985 by E.F.G. Orchids. It is traditionally classified under the sander nomenclature as Sophrolaeliocattleya (Slc.) Christopher Hausermann.
Parentage and Lineage
The orchid is a direct cross between two other famous Cattleya hybrids bred by the historic Hausermann lineage:
• Seed Parent: Cattleya George Hausermann
• Pollen Parent: Cattleya Eugene Hausermann
Species Composition
According to registration records on OrchidRoots, the dominant natural species that make up this hybrid's genetic background include:
• Cattleya mossiae (~32%)
• Cattleya dowiana (~17%)
• Cattleya gaskelliana (~9.5%)
• Cattleya warscewiczii (~9%)
Due to its ancestry, this hybrid is often used in subsequent breeding to produce large, colorful, and structurally complex offspring like Rhyncholaeliocattleya Quest Azucar and Rhyncholaeliocattleya Quest Sandungera.
