5VX section V-belts have a wedge, cogged design. Wedge V-belts (identified with a "V") have a smaller top width and a deeper profile than classical V-belts.
This design transfers higher power than classical V-belts of the same size. These cogged V-belts (identified with an "X") run cooler than 5V section V-belts because the cogs allow the belt to bend and flex against the pulley, dissipating heat. They are useful for small-diameter pulleys and drives with twists and turns.
