Mother's Kisses, 1982
Complete 26-part work consisting of hand-colored lithographs, with alternating figurative images and text. Each component measures approximately 6 3/4 x 6 3/4 inches and is individually mounted between clear acrylic panels.
All 26 components are present and are numbered sequentially 1–26 on the reverse.
Mother's Kisses is a documented work by Dotty Attie from 1982, printed and published by Solo Press, New York. Examples of the work are held in museum collections, including the Whitney Museum of American Art and the British Museum.
IMPORTANT SIGNATURE / EDITION INFORMATION:
I have not located a visible artist's signature or edition number on this example. The pieces have not been disassembled from their acrylic mounts to examine areas that may be obscured by the mounting. Other documented examples of Mother's Kisses were produced in a numbered edition of 25, but I am not representing this particular set as signed or numbered because no such marking has been located.
CONDITION:
The artwork itself appears to be in generally good condition while mounted. The clear acrylic mounts show noticeable scratching and general surface wear, and some mounting screws/hardware are missing. Please see photographs for the condition of the acrylic. The artwork has not been removed from the mounts for further by the current owner's mother at an estate sale many years ago and subsequently retained by the family. Exact date and location of purchase are unknown. No original purchase documentation or certificate of authenticity is available.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Dotty Attie is an American artist and a founding member of A.I.R. Gallery, the pioneering women artists' cooperative established in New York in 1972. Her work is represented in major museum collections.
The sale includes all 26 components shown in the photographs. They will be kept together and sold only as a complete work.
