DuBois French Impressionist Oil Painting – Woman by Lake with Sailboats -Vintage-SignedBeautiful Vintage Collectable, Classic French Impressionist Style oil painting, hand-signed DuBois in the lower corner. Paintings of this artist,style, and scene type, are Highly sought after and collected. With the larger ones like this the more rare. Measures 22” Tall x 26” wide.The subject matter—a solitary woman in a long dress and hat by a lake—is designed to mimic 1800’s French Impressionist works like those of Renoir or Monet. Associated with the commercial art and decor movement this painting was made between the 1960’s thru 1970’s --frequently listed under gallery pseudonyms like Pierre or Henri Dubois—this style was crafted to bring the atmosphere, rich textures, and romantic lighting of traditional European impressionism into residential spaces.The artwork itself depicts a serene shoreline landscape rendered in a soft palette of powder blues, sage greens, cool lavenders, and misty grays. Technique: Impasto oil painting with raised brushwork. The foliage and trees are created using quick fan-brush stippling and textured dab techniques. At the center, a solitary woman in a long, Victorian-style dress stands along a winding pathway, looking out over a tranquil lake where distant sailboats float on the water. The painting features prominent impasto brushwork, adding physical texture and dimensional depth to the trees, water, and foliage.Original natural wood frame with a textured fabric linen inset mat. It is housed in its original period-appropriate natural wood frame, complete with a cream-colored woven linen liner that complements the muted colors of the canvas.The painting itself is in Excellent condition. Linen matting and Frame are intact. Someone stapled into the outside edges of the frame a bunch of brown paper to cover it, which has been taken off. I had to leave some ends of staples so the wood wouldn\'t get ruined. But they were stamped down for not to be sharp or sticking out. Can see in extra pics.You could easily put a better frame if wanted but this one is just fine. Has a typical picture hanging “hook” attached to the back for instant hanging in your home or office!*Measures 22” Tall x 26” wide.
