EXCEPTIONAL antique c1920 ORIENTALIST MEDITERRANEAN ITALIAN WATERCOLOR SIGNED For Sale

Very fine small painting and signed illegibly.This little gem is watercolor on paper, layed down on a thicker, but thin, paperboard. and measures 12 1/4" by 6 1/2".Overall framed measurements are 15" by 9 1/8".It has been under glass since I opened it up for these photos very recently. it has been in this frame, it appears, since circa 1920.Could date to late nineteenth century as well.It has been well cared for and is in good antique condition.Painting depicts a beautiful scene of two small boats, very close to each other, in still sea, just next to what appears to be some sort of very fancy shrine of which there is a line of these shrines in the distance. Not certain if the time of day is dawn or dusk but the half sun rests on the water among distant buildings. The man in the near boat has on a distinctive red striped shirt which may help identify where this painting was done. Seems Italian but I do not know.The painting is exquisite in every detail and was easily accomplished by this artist.It is signed by the artist lower left. I can't read it but am certain it is recognizable.Thank you.
