An early 19th-century English amateur watercolor of Ullswater, the Lake District lake in historic Cumberland, hand-lettered "ULSWATER CUMBERLAND" across the lower image. The view follows the Picturesque convention of the Lake District tourism boom: a sailboat, two small figures in period costume on a foreground promontory, a crag at right, and blue mountains with a small ruin beyond. The handling is amateur, in the schoolgirl watercolor tradition of the period, likely copied from a published topographical print.
