The labels both say size 6. However the *******waist is super tiny ******* which is one of many indicators this is authentic 1980’s-1990’s. A size six waist today is around 30” this skirt has a waist of 26”. Please see measurements below!

****Also the skirt was modified. It appears to be a wrap style skirt that had the traditional button closure however the button is gone and it is sewn in place.
This can easily be changed by a seamstress at your dry cleaners. The extra material could be let out and a new button added. You don’t see the button on skirt anyway because the jacket covers it.********

Emanuel Ungaro (1933–2019) was a celebrated French-Italian fashion designer who founded his namesake house in Paris in 1965.
A master of color and draping, he became a defining figure in 20th-century fashion by blending the structural rigor he learned under Cristóbal Balenciaga with a "sensual obsession" for bold prints and clashing patterns.

Early Training:
Born to Italian parents in France, he first learned tailoring from his father before moving to Paris at 22. He apprenticed for six years under Balenciaga, followed by a brief stint with André Courrèges.
Signature Style:
Known for refusing to use sketches, he draped fabric directly onto live models. His aesthetic evolved from 1960s "Space Age" geometric tailoring to the vibrant, layered, and romantic "Soft Look" of the 1970s and 80s.
Legacy:
He retired in 2004 and passed away in 2019. His influence is still seen in the work of modern designers like Dolce & Gabbana.
