A beautiful Czech violin by František Herclík (1866–1948), made in Mladá Boleslav in 1921, bearing the original printed label.
The violin has a very attractive warm reddish-orange varnish with a naturally aged patina. The instrument has elegant, well-proportioned outlines, attractive flamed maple on the back and ribs, and a beautifully figured maple neck. The back is made from one piece of maple.
Back length: 36.0 cm.
The violin has been professionally fitted with new high-quality ebony fittings, including new pegs, tailpiece and chinrest, and is fitted with new strings. The fittings are of excellent quality and complement the instrument very well.
František Herclík was the founder of the Herclík family of Czech violin makers. He established his workshop in Mladá Boleslav in 1912 and continued working there until his death in 1948. His instruments are documented in Czech violin-making literature and collections.

A very attractive example of early 20th-century Czech violin making, suitable both for playing and for a collection.
The violin has a warm, sweet and rich tone, with beautiful depth and a smooth, rounded character. The lower strings are warm and resonant, while the upper register is clear, focused and singing. The sound is well balanced, with good projection and a refined, complex tonal quality.
