This is a string-bound portfolio of photographs ofFort Monroe in Virginia from around 1895. The photographshave a beautiful sepia tone and lots of detail.
There are 22 photographs plus the pictorial cover.Most of the photographs are full page. Each print is mounted onto thick textured gray paper by all four corners. The page measures10 x 8inches (25.5 x20 cm). The full-page photos measure approximately 5.5 x4 inches (13 x 10 cm). Therealso twofold out panoramic photos -- one is 16" (40.5 cm) wide and the other is20.5" (52 cm)wide.
Produced by the Albertype Company as a set of mechanical photogravure prints. It is undated, but the height of the Albertype company were the mid to late 1890s. The photos are all pre-automobile.
