The cabinet retains its beautiful art deco

period styling, decorative grille, original hardware, clock, and other fine detailing.

MADE IN THE USA

The S-22x is an early superheterodyne set, probably the first one GE offered to the consumer.

Prior to the \"new\" superset process, most radios were TRF (tuned radio frequency). Superheterodyne radios were designed by Edward Howard Armstrong, who sold the patent to GE.

The only way you could get a superhet was from RCA, Westinghouse, GE or build one yourself! The S-22x is an eight-tube, AM only radio.

Looks like all tubes are present.

10-inch speaker

Telechron clock actually seems to be working, at least the seconds habd goes around smoothly.

I was not able to pull in a station, so I am selling it as-is with no guarantee of radio operation.

The power cord and plug are also in very good condition and have the appearance of a period/vintage-style cord, although I cannot verify whether they are original to the radio.

I have not attempted to determine the radio\'s restoration history, so please consider the photographs and video to be the best representation of its current condition.

A scarce and highly desirable early GE clock radio that would make an excellent addition to an early radio collection.

This particular 1931 GE Junior S-22X is a beautiful and increasingly difficult-to-find survivor.
