AntiqueGORHAM ATHENIC Cigar HUMIDOR BOX BY258 made of MIXED Metal Sterling Silver .925 & copper.According to the Gorham company the boxes were first made February 19, 1902, & were made to hold 50 cigars. The previous owner from Washington, D. C., made inquiry to the Gorham Company in 1972. The box is engraved on the top W T HULME & May 16th 1918, & is hard to see. I did not notice this until I took the photos.The box weighs 3 lb. 4.4 oz., the lid measures approx. 9 1/2 by 6 1/4 inches wide, & measures approx. 4 inches tall (feet to the raised top of the lid). The box is marked Athenic anchor, Gorham Co. BY 258.The box is in very good usedantique estate condition as follows;THERE IS AGE WEAR CONSISTENT WITH THE AGE OF THE PIECE INCLUDING SOME HARD TO SEE SCRATCHES &TINY DINGS ON SOME EDGES. THERE IS NO KEY. I AM USING THE NUMBER Y258 IN THE LETTER FROM THE GORHAM COMPANY, WHICH I WILL INCLUDE IN THE PURCHASE & TO ME THE 5 ALMOST LOOKS LIKE A 6. THE BOX IS NAME AND DATE ENGRAVED ON THE TOP AND IT IS HARD TO SEE. I HAVE NOT POLISHED & THERE ARE SOME OLD POLISH REMAINS. THE WOOD SHOWS SOME WEAR. THERE WAS A TINY SCREW IN THE BOX WHEN I RECEIVED IT. I CANNOT FIGURE OUT IF IT IS PART OF THE BOX OR NOT.
