General Public — …All the Rage and Public Image Ltd. — Cassette bring two very different sides of the 1980s together in one collectible lot. From the bright, infectious appeal of “Tenderness” to the striking presence of PiL’s “Rise,” this pair offers plenty of personality for a new wave, alternative or post-punk cassette collection.
These are two different artists, with one cassette by each: General Public and Public Image Ltd., also known as PiL. Both physical tapes are pictured with their cases and paper inserts. The photographs show the exact items offered, including their labels, artwork and visible condition.
GENERAL PUBLIC — …ALL THE RAGE
The cream-and-burgundy artwork, band portraits and I.R.S. branding give this release plenty of visual character before you even look at the track list. “Tenderness” is the immediate draw, but the album also includes “Hot You’re Cool,” “Anxious,” “Never You Done That,” “Burning Bright,” “As a Matter of Fact,” “Are You Leading Me On?,” “Day-to-Day,” “Where’s the Line?” and “General Public.” It is an appealing addition for anyone building a shelf around the melodic, colorful side of 1980s music.

PUBLIC IMAGE LTD. — CASSETTE
A wonderfully direct title and instantly recognizable presentation: the large blue word “cassette” across the pale cover gives this PiL release a look all its own. The music selection includes “FFF,” “Rise,” “Fishing,” “Round,” “Bags,” “Home” and “Ease.” For a collection that moves beyond mainstream pop into more distinctive alternative territory, it makes a strong companion to the General Public tape.
Edition details visible on this copy: Elektra catalog number 9 60438-4 on the spine and 60438-4 on the cassette, with production credited to Bill Laswell and John Lydon. The cassette label carries a 1986 copyright date. Please use the detailed photographs to compare the label and packaging with the version you collect.
CONDITION — PLEASE READ
Both tapes are used, with VG average visual condition. Cases and paper inserts are included. The paper inserts are graded separately at Good (G): visible age toning, spotting, creases, marks and edge/spine wear are present, particularly on the PiL artwork. These are collected, handled copies with visible age, rather than pristine examples.
Playtested by the seller. The grade describes cosmetic condition. Please review all five photographs for the best understanding of the individual tapes and packaging.
