Offered here is an exceptionally scarce copy of The Pérez Archives: Deluxe Edition, published by Andy Mangels in 2001 with the direct participation of legendary comic-book artist George Pérez.
Created as a benefit for the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund, The Pérez Archives was an ambitious attempt to document the extraordinary career and body of work of one of the most important and beloved artists in modern comics.
This is the Deluxe Edition, limited to only 250 copies, and includes an additional 34-page Deluxe section filled with rare and unusual Pérez artwork.
Even better, this copy is signed on the front cover by both George Pérez and Andy Mangels.
The book itself identifies the publication as:
“Limited Edition – First Publication – San Diego ComicCon 2001 – a benefit for the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.”
A CELEBRATION OF GEORGE PÉREZ
Few comic artists have been associated with as many iconic characters and landmark series as George Pérez.
Over the course of his remarkable career, Pérez became especially famous for his work on The Avengers, The New Teen Titans, Wonder Woman, Crisis on Infinite Earths, The Infinity Gauntlet, Fantastic Four and JLA/Avengers.
His artwork helped define generations of characters including Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, Robin, Nightwing, Starfire, Cyborg, Raven, Beast Boy, Deathstroke, The Flash, Green Lantern, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Spider-Man, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Thanos, the Fantastic Four and many, many others.
One look at the incredible wraparound cover of The Pérez Archives gives you an idea of just how enormous his contribution to comics was.
Pérez created the wraparound artwork specifically for this project, filling it with characters from throughout his career. The original artwork for the cover itself has subsequently been sold through Heritage sales.
WHAT IS THE PÉREZ ARCHIVES?
This was not a conventional mass-market book.
It was a small-run archival project created specifically for collectors and Pérez fans, documenting his career through an extensive bibliography/checklist along with artwork, sketches, commissions, character designs and other unusual material.
The Deluxe Edition adds 34 additional pages devoted to rare Pérez artwork, including pieces that many collectors may never have encountered elsewhere.
Only 250 Deluxe copies were produced.
The Deluxe copies were limited but not individually numbered.
At the time of this listing, I could not find another copy of the Deluxe Edition currently being offered for sale, which gives some indication of how infrequently these surface. With such a tiny original production run, many copies have disappeared into permanent George Pérez collections over the past 25 years.

This copy has been signed directly on the front cover by both George Pérez and Andy Mangels.
The signatures are strong and clearly visible against the white portion of the cover.
For Pérez collectors, this is considerably more interesting than simply a random comic signed at a convention. Pérez was directly involved with the creation of The Pérez Archives, contributed material to the project and created the extraordinary cover artwork specifically for it.
CONDITION
The book is in excellent overall condition considering its age and unusual hand-produced format.
The pages are extremely clean, the binding remains intact, the clear protective front cover presents very nicely, and both signatures remain strong.
There is one noticeable crease to the lower corner of the front cover, which has been photographed clearly. No attempt has been made to press, repair or otherwise alter the crease.
Please examine all photographs carefully as they are part of the condition description.
Aside from the corner crease, this is an exceptionally attractive example.
