NEED TO KNOW Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about open-back listening, amplification, connections and everyday use.
Open-Back Design 18Ω Planar Magnetic Dual 3.5mm Connections What type of headphones are the Edition XS? Edition XS are full-size, wired, open-back planar magnetic headphones designed for home Hi-Fi, desktop audio, music appreciation and focused listening. Will people around me hear the music? Yes. The open-back design allows sound to pass through the earcups, so some sound leakage is completely normal. Edition XS are best suited to quiet home, desktop or studio environments rather than public or shared spaces. Do I need a DAC or headphone amplifier? Not always, but Edition XS can benefit from a capable audio source. Some phones and basic computer headphone outputs may not provide enough power for the best performance. A dedicated DAC or headphone amplifier can help the headphones perform closer to their full potential. Can I connect Edition XS directly to a PC or laptop? Yes, provided your computer has a compatible headphone output and can supply adequate power. If the output level is too low or lacks control, pairing the headphones with a suitable DAC or headphone amplifier is recommended. What connections does Edition XS use? Each earcup uses its own detachable 3.5mm connection. The supplied cable connects both earcups to a standard 3.5mm audio source, and a 6.35mm adapter is included for compatible desktop audio equipment. Is the headphone cable replaceable? Yes. Edition XS uses a detachable, user-replaceable cable with dual 3.5mm connectors at the earcups, making cable replacement or compatible cable upgrades straightforward. What are the key specifications? Edition XS has an 8Hz–50kHz frequency response, 18Ω impedance, 92dB sensitivity and weighs approximately 405g / 14.28 oz.
Good to know: Edition XS is an open-back wired headphone. Sound leakage and low isolation are normal, and a capable audio source can help it deliver its best performance.
