Original signed oil painting by Helga Schweininger, a Costa Mesa, California artist and author (born in Graz, Austria; settled in Southern California in 1962). Titled "Feeling (Great) Happy" on the reverse stretcher bar, catalog number 111 — the parenthetical suggests the artist revised her title from "Feeling Great" to "Feeling Happy."
A charming family scene: a round, black-furred creature wearing a feathered headdress sits contentedly on a red settee at the head of a wooded path, while five smaller round offspring play and cuddle in the grass around it. The soft, rounded forms and warm green woodland setting give this piece an especially cozy, storybook feel — one of the gentler, more affectionate compositions in this collection.
Signed "Helga" in the lower left of the canvas. The reverse bears the artist's handwritten title (with revision) and catalog number.
Presented unframed, on the original stretcher bars — ready for the buyer's choice of framing.
Part of a collection of works by this artist currently being listed from the same estate; a warm, family-themed addition for collectors of whimsical folk/outsider art.
Dimensions: 30" W x 40" H (canvas only, unframed)
