The Hellwig 7709 Rear Sway Bar is a direct-fit adjustable-rate suspension upgrade for the 2009–2026 Dodge/Ram 1500 in both 2WD and 4WD configurations. While the Ram 1500 does come equipped with a factory rear sway bar on most trim levels, the stock bar is sized for ride comfort rather than meaningful roll resistance — leaving the truck prone to noticeable body lean through corners and side-to-side sway during lane changes or towing maneuvers. The Hellwig 7709 addresses this with a solid 7/8" heat-treated 4140 chromoly bar that is larger in diameter than stock, delivering improved lateral stiffness, better cornering behavior, and a more controlled rear end feel both empty and under load.

The adjustable-rate design is a key advantage, allowing owners to select the stiffness level that best matches their use case — from moderate everyday driving to more aggressive towing or performance-oriented setups. The bar is engineered to reuse the factory rear end links on trucks that came from the factory with a rear sway bar, simplifying the installation process. Owners of Ram 1500 models that were not originally equipped with a rear sway bar (available on certain trim levels) will need the separately sold Hellwig 7961 End Link Kit to complete the installation. All other mounting hardware and polyurethane bushings are included, and the installation is bolt-on using the factory rear axle mounting points.
