The tang is signed “Hizen Kuni Ju Tadahiro,”

a name belonging to the famous Hizen Tadayoshi school of Saga domain.

The Tadayoshi line produced some of the finest blades of the Edo period,

known for their clean jigane, elegant hamon, and exceptional craftsmanship.

Even fragments from this lineage are highly valued by collectors,

as they preserve the spirit and steel quality of the original sword.

🌸This is an antique Japanese sword fragment (zanketsu).

1. Due to modern Japanese weapon laws, old blades that are no longer registered must be cut down, leaving only fragments like this one.
2. Although shortened, the steel, patina, and original craftsmanship remain, making zanketsu meaningful pieces for collectors who appreciate the history and artistry of Nihonto.
