Incredible find in NASA optical bin at Glenn Research Center. Very old, but solid and intact. Should be disassembled and optics professionally cleaned or restored.
Very Rare 1930\'s Hugo Meyer & Co. Görlitz Makro-Plasmat 1:2.9 Foc. 4¾ inches (≈120.7 mm), serial Nr. 464493, designed by Dr. Paul Rudolph.** This rare uncoated anastigmat cell/barrel came from NASA surplus and features the classic Plasmat optical formula known for sharp definition, smooth bokeh, and characteristic three-dimensional rendering. The black-painted brass barrel shows honest period wear and paint chipping; the glass exhibits haze typical of pre-war uncoated optics of this age. Suitable for large-format or medium-format use when mounted in a shutter or focusing barrel, it covers formats around 9×12 cm and larger. A scarce Rudolph-designed Meyer lens—sold as-is for collectors or restoration.
