Gorlitz Satz-Plasmat convertible large format lens. Serial number 782433. The rim of the lens features a New York marking, indicating it was originally imported for the US market. Designed by the legendary Dr. Paul Rudolph, this convertible anastigmat lens provides three distinct focal lengths within one system depending on the cell combination used.

1. Full combined setup: 6 inch (150mm) focal length with a maximum aperture of f/4.5.
2. Front cell used alone: 8 3/4 inch (approximately 220mm) focal length with a maximum aperture of f/8.
3. Rear cell used alone: 12 5/8 inch (approximately 320mm) focal length with a maximum aperture of f/11.
   
   
4. The lens comes mounted on a vintage square wooden lens board measuring exactly 83 x 83 mm (approximately 3.25 x 3.25 inches). It is secured to the board with its original metal retaining flange. The shutter can be easily unscrewed from this flange, allowing you to remove the entire lens and shutter assembly and mount it onto any other standard lens board of your choice. The F. Deckel Munchen Compur leaf shutter has three individual aperture scale engravings perfectly calibrated for each of the three configurations. It is an outstanding working tool for large format art photographers or an excellent centerpiece for camera equipment collectors.

Excellent serviced condition. The optical cells (lens blocks) are in great shape. The glass is clear and transparent with no element separation, haze, fungus, or deep scratches. The Compur shutter has been professionally CLA\'d (cleaned, lubricated, and adjusted). The mechanism operates smoothly, and all shutter speeds from 1 second to 1/200th, as well as B and T modes, fire correctly, accurately, and consistently. The retaining flange holds the shutter firmly to the wood board and can be easily unscrewed for transferring the lens.Specifications
