Anice antique set, all bound in original publisher’s red textured cloth, with agilt bordered title and author name on front board, gilt ruling and letteringon spines.
Fourof the volumes fully illustrated by Hugh Thomson, and Pride and Prejudiceillustrated by Charles E Brock. 40illustrations in each, 200 in total.
Somespines faded, marking on the boards, bumped corners, some foxing to end papers,some volumes have a small bookseller sticker on the front pastedown, Pride hasa stamp on the title page. Tissueguards present in each volume – the one in Sense and Sensibility is detached. Roughcut page edges. Some pages in MansfieldPark are chipped due to an improper cut.The first blank page in Northanger Abbey/Persuasion has beenremoved.
The text and illustrations are very clean and the set presents well.
Overall, decents antique editions with many illustrations. A nice addition to any library, or a thoughtful gift for a Jane Austen lover.
