Japanese Kutani Porcelain Pot: $40.00
This is Japanese Kutani porcelain made during the Allied Occupation of Japan, dating directly to 1945–1952. The Kanji (\"九谷\"): Reads Kutani, the historic ceramic production region in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, famous for bold overglaze enamels and iron-red/gilt (Kinrande) styles. The Diamond Stamp (\"C.P.O.\"): Stands for Central Purchasing Office (or Central Purchasing Organization). Following World War II, the Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers (SCAP) established the C.P.O. to procure high-grade Japanese handicrafts and goods for sale exclusively through Post Exchanges (PX) and base commissaries to Allied military personnel.
