Up for sale is a beautiful, large antique Japanese Imari porcelain oval serving platter (charger), dating back to the late Meiji period (late 19th to early 20th century). This impressive piece showcases the finest traditions of Arita export ware.
**Design & Features:**
- **Face:** Features a striking, asymmetrical \"whirlwind\" or fan-segmented design. Beautifully hand-painted with underglaze cobalt blue, vibrant overglaze iron-red/orange enamels, and subtle gilt accents. The patterns include traditional geometric diaper-work (checkerboard), stylized waves, and floral motifs.
- **Reverse:** Decorated with hand-painted trailing scrolls, ribbons, and Shippo (treasure) symbols in underglaze blue along the outer rim.
- **Markings:** Features a crisp, hand-painted single-character underglaze blue \"Fuku\" (富 - Wealth/Good Fortune) mark inside a square boundary on the base.
- **Authenticity Note:** Distinct kiln spur marks (hari traces) are visible on the base from the original firing process, confirming its antique Japanese craftsmanship.
