These are about the only science fiction stories of the period that consider Africa at all, even more remarkable in that they were published ANALOG as edited John W. Campbell, who was far more than the simple-minded right-winger people think of him as today. Reynolds was a Socialist, which was pretty daring in those Cold War times, and a writer Campbell very much favored, maybe because they had challenging arguments.
