MCDERMOTT M8P1 PRESTIGE 1
Any serious collectors are in for a treat today. Up for grabs is an extremely rare pool cue and probably one of a kind, in brand new condition. It has never hit a ball and is perfect in every way except one. In 1998 McDermott introduced the first of the Prestige Series, the M8P1, also known as the Prestige 1. These were absolutely the most beautiful and costly cues McDermott had made up until that time. Please see the photos. There were 100 of these made, each with a serial number, and they sold out quickly to McDermott’s authorized dealers. The forearm is ebony with 4 intricate floating Purple Heart points with Mother of Pearl diamonds inlaid in each point and a pair of brass rings on each end. The sleeve is also ebony with 4 windows each including more intricate floating Purple Heart inlays, again with Mother of Pearl diamonds and again with 2 pairs of brass rings. The wrap is black lizard embossed leather, and the joint is McDermott’s 3/8-10 stainless steel Quick Release with a pair of brass rings on both sides of it. The shaft is a pro taper with 1 1/8” ferrule and Le Pro 13 mm tip. The cue weighs 18 ¾ ounces. Now if you looked closely at the pics you noticed one big difference between this cue and any of the original 100 Prestige 1 cues that were made. It doesn’t have the 24k gold medallion and ring that all Prestiges have. And there is a very good reason for that. When all 100 numbered cues were sold and gone, 1 remained and was missing only the gold medallion and ring. This is that cue, and it was bought by McDermott’s VP of Sales. Since it is the only Prestige 1 without the gold, this cue truly is a one of a kind collectible that will continue to increase in value. I found a few new and used Prestige 1’s for sale online ranging from $2400 to $3600. But they have the gold. This one does not, but also it’s the only one in the world that doesn’t. I estimate this cue to be worth around $2500. It is a McDermott collector’s dream. We are offering it now so collectors will know we have lots of really nice and hard to find that will be coming up soon, and at really good prices. So we had set a Buy It Now price of $2495, but we have lowered it to ONLY $1995! Or you can take a chance at making an offer. You might get lucky! Take a look at the pics and come back to us with any questions. By the way, you probably noticed a ‘complete’ Prestige 1 in the photos. It has the gold and is serial number 64, also new never used, and we will be offering it soon. Thanks for looking and come back often to see what we have. We have a lot more great stuff coming up.
