Description:The Marantz MM7055 is a five-channel Class AB power amplifier that delivers 140 watts per channel into 8 ohms across the full 20Hz to 20kHz bandwidth at 0.08% THD, with all five channels driven. It is built around a large multiple-secondary EI-core transformer and more than 65,000µF of custom-designed energy storage, paired with high-efficiency power transistors and current response circuitry. The output stages mount on an extruded aluminum \"thermal tunnel\" heat sink with temperature-sensing forced-air cooling that keeps the fans quiet and the unit cool under sustained load. Each channel accepts either balanced XLR or unbalanced RCA input, individually selectable. Gold-plated four-way binding posts handle speaker connections. DC trigger input and output jacks and RC-5 jacks allow automatic power-up with a compatible processor or receiver. The heavy-gauge steel chassis isolates the circuitry from vibration and interference, and its depth of under 14½\" lets it fit a standard shelf, cabinet, or rack. Ratings are published into 6 and 8 ohms.
Designed as the ideal partner for a 5.1 home theater built around a surround processor or a receiver with pre-outs, it takes over the power duties for the main channels and lets the processor concentrate on processing. It is equally suited to multi-room stereo use. Clean, quiet, and dynamic, with the understated black styling of the Marantz separates line, it is a straightforward, well-built amplifier that delivers the power and composure a serious multichannel system needs.
