Marni Market woven tote in glossy PVC strapping over a box frame. The ground is light blue with a navy band across the lower panel and a pixelated flower in coral, teal and yellow. A black leather MARNI patch sits on the front on two brass rivets, and the handles are braided teal and cream.It has not been used. The retail tags are tied on rather than tucked inside or held beside it. The Marni care card and a blank MARNI hangtag are knotted to one handle by their string, and the grey MARNI MARKET card hangs from the top rim on its green loop. A cream cotton dust bag with a red woven MARNI label comes with it. There is no box.Every strand is intact across the panels and the base. No splitting, cracking, kinking or lifted strap ends, and no fading between the motif strands and the blue around them. The logo patch lies flat with uncurled edges and unrubbed lettering, and both rivets are bright with no verdigris or plating loss. The braided handles are plump and even along their whole length, with no flattening, greying or fibre pull where a hand would sit. At the rivets, which is where this construction fails first, the weave holes are round and tight, with no stretching or tearing. The bag holds a crisp rectangle unsupported, with no distortion, bowing or collapsed corners. The base is the same tone as the sides, without the darkened band along the edges that a basket picks up once it has been set down. Inside it is bright uniform blue and unlined, with no staining, ink transfer, tide marks or crushed strands.The retail tag is fully legible. It reads style SHMH0013JG, colour CERAMIC, model SHOPPING BAG INTRECCIO, codes RF081 and 00B40, size UNI, season 2024 01, 01PR 2024 328/1, MADE IN COLOMBIA, and barcode 8 056421 150819 with a second code 00003.About 8.5 inches, roughly 21.5 cm, across the face in both directions. That is read off a tape laid across the bag and it carries about a quarter inch either way.I would rather flag this now than have it surprise you on inspection. The base is not in the photographs, and the two earlier views of it are blurred, so heavy soiling is ruled out but a faint scuff would not show. The inside has not been opened out and photographed either; the inner wall shows at the rim in two of the close-ups and no further. The sewn label inside reads MADE IN and then a country I cannot make out, although the retail tag says Colombia. And the tag carries no price, so I cannot tell you what the bag cost new.The Marni card tied to the bag is the house\'s own statement about how it is made. It says this is an article of absolute artisanship, that the materials are fragile and the workmanship unique, and that small imperfections are features of a natural product and should not be considered defects.
