STORY SUMMARY
Darren McGavin stars as Mike Hammer, Mickey Spillane's tough, streetwise private detective who operates in a dangerous world of murderers, racketeers, blackmailers, thieves and professional criminals.
Hammer isn't the polished gentleman detective. He's aggressive, suspicious and willing to push his investigations into places where more cautious men would never venture. Whether a client walks into his office with a desperate story or Hammer simply stumbles across trouble, he rarely stops until he discovers the truth.
His investigations lead through nightclubs, cheap hotels, back alleys, wealthy estates, gambling operations and the darker corners of New York. Cases involve murder, kidnapping, robbery, narcotics, blackmail, organized crime, missing persons and elaborate criminal schemes.
Captain Pat Chambers, played by Bart Burns, frequently crosses paths with Hammer. Although Hammer's methods may frustrate the police, his instincts and relentless determination repeatedly uncover clues others have overlooked.
