Now in high output RED! I\'ve added a red display that is significantly brighter than the original green and sorted for balanced output. It\'s truly stunning and easy to read in direct sunlight. The green display is still available, but red has a more retro look and the AlGaAs LEDs really cut through sunlight.

This is a retro look, LED watch module designed to fit in an ETA6497 or similar watchcase. What makes this module special is that there are no external switches, and the battery holder is completely in the module! No need to drill any holes in the case, figure out how to chuck a stem, or what to do with the watch back to hold the batteries. This watch module has a vibration switch for displaying the time, and a magnetic switch to set the time.

To display the time; just tap the face of the watch, tap again for the date, and a third time to display seconds. To set the time; hold a magnet under the watch to set the hours.Once the hours are set, remove the magnet and wait for the display to go out. Pass the magnet again within four seconds to set the minutes, remove the magnet for the display to go out, replace the magnet within four seconds to set the month, and repeat again for the date. Repeat a fourth time if you wish to synchronize seconds. Time editing may be abandoned after any parameter, for changing time zones or daylight savings time.

The battery is not included, but is a standard CR1632 coin cell.Battery life is use dependent, and should display about 8000 events. There is almost no drain (5uA) when the display is off.

The case displayed is not included, but is my prototype in an ETA6497 case I bought off .

If you use a case with a conductive back you will need to insulate board, so I recommend a case with a windowed back. You only need to provide some method of preventing the module from spinning around in your case. If you look at the pictures of my sample, I have glued an arc around the inside perimeter of the case to prevent the module from rotating and allow the module to be easily removed for battery changes. I made my arc from a brass spacer that was included with the case I purchased, and just trimmed it to size. The stem is not used and is simply glued in place to be decorative.
