The Savoia Machetti S.81 Pipistrello Bomber Was A Three Engine Multi-Purpose Military Aircraft Developed By Italy Before World War II. It Was Developed From The Savoia Machetti S.M.73 Passenger Aircraft And Was Active On Multiple Battlefields From The Mid-1930s To The Early Stages Of World War II. The Design Was Completed In 1934 And Officially Joined The Italian Air Force In The Summer Of 1935. A Total Of 535 Aircraft Were Produced, Which Was One Of The Military Models Prioritized For Development By The Italian Fascist Regime. S. M.81 Adopts A Cantilevered Low Wing And Fixed Landing Gear Design. Equipped With Three Alfa Romeo 750 Horsepower Air-Cooled Engines, With A Top Speed Of 336 Kilometers Per Hour And A Range Of 2000 Kilometers, But Carrying Two Tons Of Bombs, The Combat Radius Is Only 430 Kilometers. 6 Crew Members, Equipped With 6 Medium Caliber Machine Guns, With A Ceiling Of 7000 Meters. Its Body Structure Is Quite Distinctive: The Body Adopts A Welded Steel Pipe Structure, And The Rear Half Is Covered With Cloth And Plywood; The Wings Are Entirely Made Of Wood.
