Lou’s Silkie Farm Hatching Egg Policy:
No refunds, ever. We do everything possible to set you up for success but there are too many variables outside our control once the eggs leave our hands (rough handling, UPS delays, improper incubation, etc. )
No fertility guarantee (our hens are housed with fertile roosters with the expectation that their eggs will get fertilized, but there’s no guarantee every egg will be) We routinely check fertility at our farm and if there’s any issue we won’t sell until it’s resolved.
We package our eggs very well, but ultimately you rely on the UPS for safe and on time delivery. They are responsible for delays, lost packages, etc.
During extreme weather, please use your best judgment when deciding to order hatching eggs. Eggs that have been subjected to freezing conditions during shipping will have suffered damage to their internal structures and are highly unlikely to hatch. Eggs subject to excessive heat can prematurely start the incubation process or weaken or kill embryos. We do not monitor the weather—that’s the buyers responsibility. We ship the eggs once they are laid.
At Lou’s Silkie Farm, we test our eggs regularly in incubators and under hens and achieve around an 90% hatch rate. During shipping, environmental factors may lower these rates. Because of this, we DO NOT guarantee hatchability.
However, we do guarantee these eggs are the same fresh eggs that go into our own incubators and under our hens to produce happy, healthy chicks.
