Quick Planting Guide1. Site Selection: Plant in full sun (6+ hours of direct light daily). Thoroughly clear the planting zone of weeds and turf beforehand to prevent choking young shoots.
2. Trenching & Spacing: Dig a trench or individual holes 3 to 4 inches deep. Space rows 18 to 24 inches apart and individual rhizomes 12 to 18 inches apart within the row.
3. Placement: Lay rhizomes horizontally along the bottom of the trench with any visible growth buds or points facing upward or sideways.
4. Backfill & Pack: Fill with clean soil and pack down firmly with boots or a roller to eliminate air pockets. Soak the ground thoroughly immediately after planting.
Ongoing Care & Live Survival PolicyGiant Miscanthus is incredibly low maintenance once established. Fertilizer is not necessary, and very little care is required for them to thrive. Year one focuses energy underground (1–3 stalks, 1–3 feet tall) as the roots establish, and they will automatically grow back thicker and stronger on their own every spring.Please Note: Because rhizomes are live organic matter, they must be unpacked and planted promptly upon arrival according to the guide above.
