Pachycormus discolor – Seed-Grown Baja Elephant Tree
Offered is a healthy Pachycormus discolor seedling growing in a 6” pot. The plant measures approximately 18” tall and is currently at the beginning of its growing season, with fresh growth developing.
Pachycormus discolor is a distinctive caudiciform tree native to Baja California, Mexico, prized by collectors for its sculptural form, thickened trunk, peeling bark, and attractive foliage. With age, plants develop increasingly impressive character and make excellent container specimens or landscape plants in suitable dry climates.
This is a young plant with many years of development ahead of it. Pachycormus discolor responds well to strong light, excellent drainage, and a relatively dry growing regimen in between good soakings. As with many Baja xeric species, avoid keeping the soil continually wet when dormant in the summer or too dry during the growing season.
