Pattern 37 British Web Gear - Infantry, NCO, Officer WW2 - Components and Book:
$55.00

Business has been good! Webbing is coming and going at a rapid rate every month - I now have crates of NOS and Grade A webbing - I will update this listing as often as possible in 2025.

We have collaborated with the author and secured the electronic files to print the Webbing at War Volume 1 in the US. The first order is a limited run and we hope to run it again in the future along with Volume 2. The Volume 2 copies that remain are from the original UK print run - while stocks last!

Early \"Small\" marked belts were remarked \"Normal\" mid war - two names for the same size! Large Belts were designed to be 56\" long. Extra Large belts were 56\".

Mk1 Ammo Pouches sit low on the belt and are sized for Bren mags and feature single round loops in the cover for Grenade Launching rounds.

Mk2 Ammo Pouches are as Mk1 but sit higher on the belt by 1\" to allow for bending and sitting comfort.

Mk3 Ammo Pouches are 1/2\" taller to allow for the longer Sten magazines, these come with Brass snap closure and brass strap and belt clips.

Mid war efficiencies lead to an alternative canvas toggle closure (interchangeable with press stud versions) and the use of coated steel fittings instead of brass (or web keepers in place of metal).

Pouches are indicated to have a choice of closure - \"snap\" or \"toggle\", metal type for the rear clips and ladder - \"brass or \"other\" / \"steel\", and the presence of original \"blanco\". The photos will also match / show these detials.

Post war pouches returned to brass fittings and then later a water drain hole added in the base by 1953 the brass was being chemically blackened / coated (Bonderized).

\"Driver Pouches\" were an option for guards and drivers that needed basic ammunition types and in a seated position. The standard pouch was used which had a large webbing loop on its upper rear to hang from a P37 belt (one pouch only).

Utility pouches are used by the heavy / crew devicesection to carry extra magazines and rounds in two pouches over the left shoulder. The \"front\"utility pouch has the long chest strap attached, the \"back\"utility pouch has a back loop to pass the chest strap through, a pairwould take a neck yolk.

Small packs use L straps to produce shoulder straps that latch to the top of the ammo pouches (Large packs can do this too).

Cross Straps Pairs are male and female (with the sewn-on tag to pass the male through) - they are paired as the same construction of shoulder pad and the length of the straps - markings match where possible and indicated.

Single Right (Male) Cross Straps / Braces are good to add (to shoulder carry) large packs, small packs, officer valise, map cases and canteens.

The 1908 Supporting Strap was continued to be made and used for various festooning and loading purposes - 1\" webbing, 32 inches long, brass 1\" buckle and brass eyelet end.

The 1908 Bayonet Frog continued to be made and employed around the world for hanging the 1907 sword bayonet (weather for prison musket, 2nd line use of the SMLE or for Lanchester or Trench Shotgun uses). A group of NOS / deadstock Indian made and marked examples has been uncovered from 1944 (Cawnpore factory) - these can hang a No4 Spike with a clip or with a hemmed slit added as a field expedient.

A typical rifle platoon soldier would need:

Cross straps, belt, ammo pouches, bayonet frog, canteen hanger, entrenching tool hanger / cover, small pack, \"L\" straps.

An NCO belt would hold a pistol holster and a pistol ammo pouch.

An officer web set would be: cross straps, belt, extension / delete straps, pistol holster, pistol ammo pouch, compass pouch, officer valise or map case.

Please feel free to ask and questions and to check out my other British Commonwealth / WW2 items.

tools are not the best at combined shipping, so I have taken to quoting shipping when prompted and refunding any overage paid when known / shipped. I now use PirateShip when necessary for larger orders.
