This is the highly acclaimed 1962 facsimile of Paul Gauguin’s private sketchbook from the years 1884–1888. It was published by Hammer Galleries, New York, with a definitive introduction and catalogue by the legendary art historian John Rewald.
The Printing (Atelier Daniel Jacomet):
The facsimile was produced in Paris by the renowned Atelier Daniel Jacomet. Using the sophisticated collotype process, Jacomet perfectly captured the nuances of Gauguin's pencil, charcoal, and ink. Note: The "weathered" appearance and markings on the cloth binding are intentional—they are exact replicas of the original sketchbook’s is a complete 3-volume set housed in the original slipcase, which is rare to find intact.
